Yesterday fonYou was announced one of the winners of the Global Telecom Business Awards 2012 at an event at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London. The company won the award for best “Virtual Mobile Service Innovation” for the Service “Segunda Línea Movistar”, introduced by Telefóncia in Spain last year.
The Segunda Línea (“Second Line”) service, based on fonYou’s XtraLine product, provides end customers with a second, virtual mobile phone line on their existing phones.
In addition, Segunda Línea offers its users advanced cloud-based service features such as a fully configurable voicemail, call and message filter, cloud phone book, or real-time activity register that can be accessed not only from smartphone applications but also from any mobile or desktop web browser.
Further innovations that fonYou has introduced with this service relate to the activation process: New customers can activate the service very easily within minutes by downloading an app (and with it, their new mobile number) from different app stores, by calling a special, automated service number or of course through the service web page.
The service was launched very successfully in March 2011 and has attracted a 6- digit number of customers since. The phenomenal success of the service is proven by the fact that both the original target segments and the number of distribution channels have been enlarged during 2012 to further increase the customer base.
This award is the second telecom industry award received by fonYou this year, following the “Global Vendor Awards” for “Best Newcomer” in April, and confirms fonYou’s continued high relevance to the sector and status as one of the pioneers in Cloud Telephony services for mobile operators.
fonYou, a global technology company with a presence in Barcelona, Singapore and Mexico City, provides carrier-grade Cloud Telephony Services for mobile operators. The company has developed a proprietary technology platform, the OMT-9000, which is connected to the mobile operators’ existing core networks and enables them to offer Cloud Telephony Services to their end customers.
These services put the end customers in total control of their mobile phone service as they allow them to configure advanced control settings for blocking, filtering or redirecting traffic; set up different voicemail greetings per contact or contact group; and access a complete history of their call records, SMS and voicemails from anywhere and in real-time.
fonYou’s Cloud Telephony Services are highly attractive both to the customers for the utility they provide as well as to the operators for increasing revenues, market share and as a customer retention tool. In addition, fonYou’s Cloud Telephony Services constitute basic building blocks which can be used by operators to quickly construct new products tailored to the needs of specific customer segments.
fonYou also operates its own mobile operator in Spain which enables the company to continuously improve its services and products and to gain valuable market insights through its own live customers.
