I joined in 2016, when fonYou had just begun its expansion to Colombia. I received an invite to come discuss the possibility of my joining from my former colleague, who was now leading the fonYou Colombia operation. I remember he told me: “fonYou has technology that you’re going to like”, which was true! The team subsequently advanced quickly in its adoption and use of Google Cloud. At the time, this wasn’t very common in Latin America.

I love creating products and services, as well as building new technological capabilities, so I decided that the opportunity to join fonYou in Colombia would allow me to do all of these things. I’ve now been part of the team for almost six years.

I currently lead operations in Mexico, and I am now based out of our Mexico City office. As director of the business unit, I’m responsible for our operational results. Previously, I was in charge of the product team for the Colombia business unit.

Day-to-day work at fonYou is very diverse. I’m generally involved intimately in all of our projects and opportunities that enable us to have greater growth and impact, as well as helping to solve the challenges that help us fulfil our strategic objectives.

I often spend time with team members on technical architecture exploration, while with others we work together on developing new data models, designing product UX/UI, and we also plan our activity scheduling. I also spend time collaborating and talking with executives from other companies in the interests of developing new business.

For me, the most interesting thing about being a part of fonYou isn’t the position or the company on their own but rather how your skills and abilities can achieve a greater impact on the whole.

I lived in Chile for a few years where, together with some friends I began to discover and delve deeper into the world of wine. This curiosity awoke a deep passion within for all things to do with wine. Working at fonYou means that I have made the occasional trip across the pond to Barcelona, Spain to visit our head office. Of course, Spain has a rich wine culture and history. And my new life in Mexico has also brought me a little closer. Now, every Thursday night I attend an oenology class - the science and study of wine and winemaking - with the aim of getting certified as a sommelier next year. Cheers!
